Flintoff hails England team

England legend says current side number one already!

Andrew Flintoff insists England’s current Test team is better than the famous 2005 Ashes-winning side and believes they can “dominate for a long time”. The retired all-rounder was one of England’s heroes during their thrilling triumph over Australia back in 2005 while he also played a role in 2009 when they regained the urn. Flintoff said: “This is a better side than the one we had in 2005. The strength of it and the depth is incredible. In 2005 we had 11 players who had a memorable few weeks and played at their best for a period, but we never played together again. “This side have a squad and they are so strong in and out of the side. We’ve seen them replace players without blinking and it has made no difference to the performance and that has been happening for a while now. “England are the best team in the world already. Not just in ranking, but also in strength. They have got everything. I don’t see why they can’t dominate for a long time. They have strong enough players to do it. Australia and West Indies did it and England should be able to do it for the next few years.”There are no weak links They are playing with a confidence and a swagger that goes with being the best. They’ve got every department covered and if someone gets injured then another one comes in and does a job.”

City limits clear: Cantona

City must try to develop own talent, says Cantona

Eric Cantona does not believe that Manchester City will succeed by trying to buy their way to success.

“City have been successful because they have won the FA Cup but if they only want to do that they will not be as strong as United because United work on the long-term.”  The former Manchester United skipper, who will return to Old Trafford on Friday for Paul Scholes’ testimonial as New York Cosmos’ director of soccer, says his former club will always be superior to their rivals because of their ability to develop players. City boss Roberto Mancini has bolstered his squad in the latest transfer window by signing Sergio Aguero, Stefan Savic and Gael Clichy while opposite number Sir Alex Ferguson has added goalkeeper David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young to his ranks. But Cantona told Sky Sports News HD: “I don’t know how they [City] work – maybe they are working on an academy but today they want to spend to buy players to build a team. “They have been successful because they have won the FA Cup but if they only want to do that they will not be as strong as United because United work on the long-term. “Players leave but Manchester United is still one of the best teams in the world. I think it will be more difficult when Sir Alex Ferguson leaves – he will be very difficult to replace.”But they know that each player will leave one day and they welcome new talent and I’m sure one of them will be ready to replace any of them. “Of course United are one of the teams that can win the title [this year]. It has always been the same with United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Blackburn one time. “But the difference between England and other countries in Europe is that in England you have five or six teams that can win the title.
