admin Birth of Football – Football was played in China in as early as 480 BC when the game was known as “cuju” and was played by kicking a leather ball through the hole of a cloth. There have been evidences in writings and paintings of men and women, even emperors, playing “cuju”. It was much later that regular goalposts and players were introduced to the game of “cuju”.
First Black Footballer – Andrew Watson, in the 1880s, was a star Black footballer born in British Guiana. He was a famous international football player and also the first non-white player to play in the FA Cup.
Famous Non-Playing Footballers – Not just players who have a special place for football in their hearts, even non-playing men, famous in their own fields of work, loved football and played vigorously. One of them was Gordon Ramsay, of Hell’s Kitchen and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, was scouted by Rangers once upon a time.
Famous Spanish singer, and also known as Enrique Iglesius’s father, Julio Iglesius played for Real Madrid youth team before he was severely injured in a car crash and had to quit football.
The best is saved for the last, as Albert Camus, the famous philosopher was a goalie for his university football team, but even in this case it was health that played spoilsport and Camus had to leave the game.
